Watching birds out my kitchen window as I make meals for my family has brought me joy and sometimes a distraction or two that has resulted in some over baked cookies or delayed suppers. Sometimes I have to put everything on hold and grab my binoculars to get a closer look or quick browse the field guide to figure out the new bird that had just landed on our feeders. Thankfully my family has understood that bird visits are unplanned events to be enjoyed and they know I will get supper on the table eventually.
